A Name with Deep Meaning

Sina is the name of my beautiful momma, and I will never forget her. In my mind and memory, mom was the very essence of love and strength! For the longest time, she was my love and the heart of our family. Even though 14 years have passed since her death, I find that my heart is finally healing, and I have discovered throughout my life journey without mom, what wisdom and love means. Sina, my mom, was a woman of passion, of compassion, and pride for the Samoan culture, traditions, and her family name. There were four things that meant the world to Mom: her family, her children and grandchildren, her passion for cooking and baking, and the churches she attended.

Mom always believed in giving to others what you have and trusting that God would provide in return. It took me roughly 14 years to finally understand what she meant. Giving to others is a not only compassion, but it is also walking the way God and Jesus Christ wanted us to treat others. In saying this, I realized that mom loved her church and church members, and she believed in helping others when we can. Mom did not use the word “if” she used the word “can” in just about anything that came to giving back to others.

The Story Behind the Collaboration

MoanaSina Creations × Pacific Soul Tattoo

MoanaSina Creations was founded with a deep appreciation for the beauty, symbolism, and
storytelling found throughout Pacific Island culture. Our goal has always been to create products
that celebrate island heritage through meaningful design while bringing those stories into
everyday life.
This vision came to life through a special collaboration with Suluape Steve Looney, owner
of Pacific Soul Tattoo in Honolulu, Hawai‘i. Known for his mastery of traditional Polynesian
tattoo artistry, Suluape Steve Looney carries forward the legacy and cultural significance
of tatau, an ancient art form that represents identity, heritage, and connection to the ocean and
land.
Through this partnership, MoanaSina Creations and Pacific Soul Tattoo joined creative forces to
transform traditional Polynesian-inspired artwork into a collection of stationery and lifestyle products that can be shared, gifted, and cherished.
Together, we created a series of designs that reflect the spirit of the islands and the symbolism found in Pacific culture.

From Tatau Art to Everyday Treasures

Together, the collaboration has produced a growing collection of products that blend traditional
inspiration with modern design.
The first designs introduced include a series of Polynesian-inspired greeting cards, each
created to reflect elements of Pacific culture and symbol`ism.
The Wave Greeting Card represents the rhythm and power of the ocean—an important symbol
of life, strength, and movement throughout Polynesian culture.
The Sea Turtle (Honu) Greeting Card symbolizes protection, endurance, wisdom, and
guidance. The turtle design is paired with a vibrant hibiscus flower, representing beauty and the
welcoming spirit of island life.
The Polynesian Pineapple Greeting Card celebrates hospitality and warmth. In island culture,
the pineapple is often associated with friendship, generosity, and aloha.
Each greeting card measures 5 x 7 inches and comes with a matching envelope, making them
perfect for sharing meaningful messages.

The collaboration also introduced a Sea Turtle Journal, designed for reflection, creativity, and
storytelling. This 6 x 8 journal includes 150 lined pages and features the signature turtle and
hibiscus design with the message “Write It Down.”
To extend the artwork beyond stationery, the collection now includes three tote bag designs,
allowing people to carry Polynesian-inspired artistry into their everyday lives.
